Subfloor Ventilation Installation in Palm Beach, Sydney
Today our team completed a comprehensive subfloor ventilation installation in Palm Beach, Sydney, transforming a poorly designed system into a properly engineered solution that delivers reliable, long-term moisture control and air circulation.
Removing a Faulty Installation
A professional mould remediation company contacted us after discovering the previous subfloor ventilation system — installed less than a year ago — had not been performing. Upon inspection, our team found five fans installed, but only three were exhausting to outside. The remaining two were simply recirculating stale air within the subfloor, providing no genuine ventilation benefit. To make matters worse, the house had no passive vents to allow fresh air to re-enter the subfloor, meaning the system was operating under negative pressure with no proper air replacement path.
We also noted a range of non-compliant workmanship issues:
- Cheap plastic louvre vents used for exhaust points.
- Unclipped electrical wiring, run in line of sight, visible and not compliant with Australian Standards.
- Duct ends left unfinished and hanging in the subfloor.
- Fans sitting directly on the ground, without ducting or supports.

Installing a Properly Engineered System
To rectify the problems, our team of four qualified in-house tradespeople — two licensed electricians and two licensed carpenters — completely removed the existing setup and started fresh. We installed five of our exclusive Australian-made subfloor fans, each one exhausting directly to outside as it should.
Our carpenters then drilled two new core holes to create proper exhaust points for the 4th and 5th fans, and five additional core holes for passive air inlets. As access along the side of the home was extremely tight, the team drilled all holes by hand, using a custom melamine drilling template designed on site to ensure perfectly aligned, level holes despite the constraints.
All external plastic vents were replaced with marine-grade stainless steel vents, ensuring durability in the coastal Palm Beach environment. The additional passive vents were installed using the same high-quality stainless steel fittings for a consistent, corrosion-resistant finish.

Attention to Standards and Detail
The entire electrical installation was redone in compliance with AS/NZS 3000 wiring standards, with all cables clipped neatly and correctly. Every duct was securely supported at intervals of no more than 1.5 metres, as per best practice and manufacturer guidelines. The result is a professional, compliant, and long-lasting subfloor ventilation system designed to protect the structure from moisture, mould, and decay.
