Let customers speak for us
The Evolution in Decentralised Ventilation
LUNOS decentralised energy recovery ventilation (ERV) systems provide fresh, clean air to your building, without losing valuable heat (or coolth). Decentralised systems do not require ducting, and are therefore typically much easier to install. This makes them perfect for retro-fittings, or buildings that simply do not have space to install a centralised ducting system.
e² Series
The e²60short from the e² series is one of the smallest decentralised fans with heat recovery in domestic ventilation.
The e²60 is pressure-optimised and thus ensures a constant volume flow even in areas with very high back pressures, such as on the coast or at high altitudes.
An optional, intelligent control system ensures that the occurring back pressures are compensated for up to 20 Pa on request and that the air flow remains unaffected up to 40 m³/h.
Components
LUNOS e²60 Reversing EC Motor Fan
The combination of highly efficient EC motors and an intelligent control system has enabled LUNOS to develop one of the most economical fans on the market.
The fan consumes between 0.4 and 3.3W and can operate as quietly as 18dB(A).
LUNOS Ceramic Composite Heat Accumulator Core
With the help of modern manufacturing processes, LUNOS have succeeded in developing a compact heat accumulator made of a ceramic composite material that delivers a maximum heat supply efficiency of 90%.
LUNOS Smart Comfort Control with Integrated Humidity and Temperature Sensors
In addition to manual operation with four ventilation stages, the integrated humidity and temperature sensors also make it possible to activate a humidity-sensitive automatic mode, with eight stages of control.
As a special feature, the Smart Comfort Control can also be used to set day and season dependent modes such as night-time reduction, summer mode or intensive ventilation. Fresh air and a healthy indoor environment as well as energy-saving ventilation is assured. The smart controller can also be used to operate up to 12 fan units from one central controller.
LUNOS e²60 Inner Screen with Integrated G3 Filter
The standard inner screen is both stylish and attractive. It houses the G3 filter and can be closed when not in use for long periods of time.
Optional hygiene inner screens allow the use of F7 filters so that pollens and fine dust are left outside.
Optional sound insulation inner screens are available for when you need fresh air and absolute silence.
LUNOS e²60 Weatherproof External Grille
The weatherproof external grille is slim and unobtrusive. It's easy to install and easily removable when cleaning.
Features and Benefits
LUNOS decentralised energy recovery ventilation (ERV) systems provide fresh, clean air to your building, without losing valuable heat (or coolth). Decentralised systems do not require ducting, and are therefore typically much easier to install. This makes them perfect for retro-fittings, or buildings that simply do not have space to install a centralised ducting system.
For a new build, or an existing home with ample access to a roof or floor cavity, centralised systems may be more suitable.
Low Operation Noise Due to EC Motor Fan Technology
- The reversing EC motors of the e²60 are market leading axial fans. Nestled in a flow-optimised EPP (expanded polypropylene) foam housing, the EC motors, which are already very quiet, are virtually "silenced". The e²60 is currently one of the quietest units in its class.
- Smaller and lower power fans make less noise than larger and more powerful centralised systems.
Maximum Noise Protection
- Due to intelligent design and internal baffling a maximum sound attention level of 67 dB can be achieved. This allows the e²60 to be used in areas with high external noise levels (and even at airports).
Efficiency
- Thanks to its very low power consumption, the e²60 is very energy-efficient, thus making an active contribution to environmental protection.
- The highly efficient EC technology enables low power consumption.
- The ductless system leads to an inherently lower pressure drop, which requires smaller fans, and generally results in a more efficient system.
Heat Recovery and Control Technology
- The key component of the e²60 is the ceramic composite heat accumulator core.
- The ceramic core heat exchanger achieves heat recovery levels of up to 90% (83% according to EN 13141-8 at 40 m³/h).
- The smart comfort control provides for perfect interaction. Equipped with humidity and temperature sensors for automatic control, the e²60 ensures efficient ventilation with humidity protection.
Flexible Installation
- The e²60 requires a wall thickness of at least 200 mm.
- One controller can be used to control between one and twelve e²60 cores.
- 1 x e²60 core (known as an e²60 Mono) can be used to ventilate a small space. The EC motor fan will reverse back and forth automatically to provide push/pull ventilation with heat recovery.
- 2 x e²60 cores (known as an e²60 Duo) can be installed as a pair. One unit extracts stale air while the other unit supplies fresh air. The two units reverse their operation in sync as required for efficient heat recovery.
- Up to six pairs of e²60 Duo's can be installed with one controller.
Other Benefits
- RETROFIT READY
With no complicated ducting runs required, the decentralised systems are quick and easy to install. - COMPACT DESIGN
Decentralised systems are the perfect solution if your building design does not allow space for a large centralised unit. - VERSATILITY
The units can be installed in areas where ducting may not be able to travel. - REDUNDANCY
Because the units are independent, in the unlikely event that one unit fails, the other units in the team will have you covered.

FAQ
What is an electronically commutated EC motor?
An electronically commutated (EC) motor is designed to run on an alternating current (AC) power supply, but it in fact bears a closer resemblance to a direct current (DC) motor. It is essentially a permanent magnet, brushless DC motor that incorporates on-board electronics. The added electronics allow an EC motor to combine the best features from both AC and DC motors, and then improve on them. For this reason, an EC motor is in a category of its own.
By utilizing this technology, EC fans are highly efficient and pay for themselves through lower operating costs and extended service life. They also provide many operational benefits that are often overlooked.
EC motors use permanent magnets and electrical windings to generate their magnetic fields, in a similar fashion to brushed DC motors. However, as their name suggests, they achieve commutation electronically rather than mechanically. This is only possible by incorporating on-board electronics within the housing of an electronically commutated EC motor.
The on-board electronics include a rectifier that converts the AC supply to DC. An integrated controller then directs the right amount of current, in the right direction, at the right time, through each of the windings. This develops magnetic poles in the stator, which interact with the permanent magnets in the rotor.
The position of each magnet is determined by using Hall effect sensors. The appropriate magnets are attracted, in sequence, to the magnetic poles in the stator. Simultaneously, the rest of the stator windings are charged with the reverse polarity. These attraction and repulsion forces combine to achieve rotation and produce the optimal torque. Since this is all done electronically, precise motor monitoring and control are possible.
What are the advantages of an electronically commutated EC motor?
Energy Efficiency
EC motor efficiency is often above 90%, allowing EC fans to consume up to 70% less energy, when compared to conventional fans. Running an EC fan at 80% speed saves nearly 50% of the energy.
Ease of Control
By continuously monitoring motor functions and automatically adjusting the control input, high efficiency is maintained throughout the operable speed range. EC motors are often capable of being turned down to 20% of full speed, while still maintaining 85% efficiency. Sensors that produce a 0-10V signal provide speed control without the need for a complex variable frequency drive.
Versatility
EC motors are capable of exceeding rated speeds. This allows fans with EC motors to achieve higher capacity within a smaller fan package.
Can the fan speed be adjusted?
EC motors are variable speed motors. They use a 0-10V control signal to adjust their speed precisely between 0% and 100%.
The e²60 controllers allow for manual operation with four ventilation stages.
Who manufactures the fan motors?
The EC fan motors inside the e²60 ventilation units are manufactured by ebm-papst in Germany.
Where are LUNOS e²60 decentralised ventilation systems made?
Germany.
What is the warranty of LUNOS e²60 decentralised ventilation systems?
A 2 year warranty provides peace of mind.
What is the difference between an HRV and an ERV?
HRVs and ERVs are similar devices in that both supply air to the home and exhaust stale air while recovering energy from the exhaust air in the process. The primary difference between the two is that an HRV transfers heat while an ERV transfers both heat and moisture.
